The gravity-defying formations in Arches National
Park highlight a landscape that's among the most impressive
in the Southwest. A natural museum of sandstone erosion,
the park features more than 2000 naturally formed
arches, along with a variety of other impressive formations,
including sandstone fins, spires, balanced rocks,
and imposing monoliths.
While many features are easily accessible by vehicle,
myriad trails offer opportunities for hikers to enjoy
close-ups unavailable from the road. Along with Canyonlands
and Deadhorse Point, Arches is one of three highlight
parks located just outside the town of Moab in eastern
Utah.
